Emslies commercial genetics on point at Uist Show

Congratulations to Messrs MacDonald,. Isle of Uist, who purchased a crossbred cow and calf privately from us which went on to win the champion and reserve beef animal at the Island’s Show this summer. The steer calf then went one better by winning the champion of champions title.


Emslies Livestock breeding sells well at Caledonian Marts YFC rally

The recent Young Farmers calf rally at Caledonian Marts saw a pair of Emslies bred cattle making a mark.

A British Blue cross heifer by our stock bull Greystone Commander and shown by Craig Malone took the award for the best British Blue cross beast in the show and later sold for 2100. This heifer was bought by Craig from one of our in-calf heifer customers on Islay.

Also highlighting the success of Emslies bloodlines was Jean McKay when she sold a Limousin cross by our commercial stock bull Brian for 1800.

Emslies Auctioneer sired Caledonian Marts Christmas fatstock show champion.

A heifer by Emslies Auctioneer (inarn Unique out of Shannas Prudence) and bred by Messrs Liam Muir, Orkney, won the Caledonian Christmas Fatstock Show and later sold for 340p/kg.

Congratulations to Messrs Peters, Westbog, who won the Forfar fatstock show with a heifer calf by Emslies Caledonian bred by Messrs Smart, Alford, Aberdeenshire. 

Emslies Livestock genetics sell well at The Spott dispersal

The top priced cow and calf at Stuart and Wendy Hunter’s dispersal of their Spott commercial herd in November was a Ronick Hawk daughter suckling an outstanding heifer calf by Bailea Black BMW. This outfit sold for 6200 which is thought to be a Scottish record for a commercial cow and calf.


Also at the same sale calves by Emslies Engineer, who is by Saphir, out of Ballymoney Pearl and is half brother to Emslies Ferrari who sold for 5500gns in Stirling in October, sold to a top 3500 and averaged 2900, while progeny by Emslies Caledonian (Oxygene out of Pennys Tess) sold to a top 3050 and averaged 2200.

Cavalier-sired heifer calf takes reserve champion at Cornwall Calf show

Emslies Livestock genetics reached as far down as Cornwall in November when fellow Limousin breeder Jack Neale and Sons took the reserve breed championship with a superb heifer calf sired by our senior Limousin herd sire Procters Cavalier.

Cavalier-sired heifer wins at Orkney County Show

In August 2011, Orkney-based show calf producer Balfour Baillie took the champion Black and Blue crossbred animal with Harper 7, a spring born heifer sired by our senior herd sire Procters Cavalier.

Dizzyrascal-sired heifer wins at Strathwardle Show

Congratulations to Messrs Drysdale who won the overall beef cattle championship and champion of champions with a spring born heifer calf sired by Emslies Dizzyrascal. Dizzyrascal is by Hartsideanew Argos and out of Emslies Uzzy, making him half brother to our successful junior heifer Emslies Fuzzy. 

Saphir-sired son reigns supreme

Massive congratulations to Tecwyn Jones and family with his huge success with Jagerbomb. This Saphir-sired steer had a string of successes at winter fatstock shows including Borderway Agri Expo, Countryside Live and Beef Expo where he stood overall champion and at the Royal Welsh Show in the summer where he won the steer championship.

Success at Huntly Spring born Show and Sale -

The reserve calf championship at the Huntly spring born show and sale was a calf by our commercial herd sire Bryan. This calf was sold inside the dam at the in-calf heifer sale in October 2010.
